Compare PGEM MAX with PGEM PRO by stored energy
PGEM MAX is a floor-standing, 51.2V LiFePO4 battery with 314Ah capacity and 16.076kWh rated energy. It is a lithium battery for inverter backup where the project needs a larger low-voltage storage module and has a suitable indoor installation space.
PGEM PRO is rated at 14.3kWh. One PGEM MAX therefore has 1.776kWh more rated energy. This is a comparison of stored energy, not a guarantee of extra backup hours: the load, reserve settings and conversion losses determine the usable AC energy.
Check current capability separately from capacity
The PGEM MAX datasheet lists 160A recommended charge/discharge current, 160A maximum continuous charging and 200A maximum continuous discharging. These current limits must be coordinated with the inverter, BMS, cables and protection devices.
A higher-capacity battery does not increase the connected inverter’s AC rating. For heavier simultaneous loads, ask for a battery-current and inverter-power review as well as an energy estimate. CAN/RS485 communication and matching firmware also need to be checked for the exact inverter model.
Reserve space for a 113kg indoor battery
PGEM MAX measures 445 × 900 × 235mm (W × H × D) and weighs 113kg. Review floor support, handling access, cable routes and service clearance before delivery. The IP20 unit needs a dry indoor position; use the installation method and accessories specified in its manual.
For a first battery bank, choose the number of modules around the essential load and required operating hours. For expansion, provide the existing module labels and communication layout. The datasheet lists up to 50 units without an extra device or 256 with a hub, subject to an approved system design.
Compare other residential batteries if footprint, handling access or the existing inverter limits matter more than the energy of a single module.

Frequently asked questions
How much more energy does PGEM MAX store than PGEM PRO?
PGEM MAX is rated at 16.076kWh and PGEM PRO at 14.3kWh, a difference of 1.776kWh rated energy per module. The extra usable backup time depends on the system and load.
Does PGEM MAX increase my inverter output?
No. Battery energy and inverter output are separate ratings. Available AC power remains limited by the inverter and by the battery bank current and operating conditions.
What space and access does PGEM MAX need?
The unit measures 445 × 900 × 235mm (W × H × D) and weighs 113kg. Allow the support, handling route, ventilation and service clearance required by the manual.
Can it be added to an existing PGEM battery bank?
Ask for a review of the existing module revisions, supported mixed-bank configuration, BMS communication, wiring and protection. Being in the PGEM family does not establish that any modules can be combined.
