Home backup planning

Size home backup power around essential appliances

Separate essential circuits first, then calculate simultaneous load, motor starts and desired runtime. Battery kWh determines stored energy; inverter kW determines how much power can be delivered at once.

01

Essential loads

Prioritise lighting, internet, refrigeration and other circuits that cannot stop.

02

Backup duration

Set a realistic target for daytime, evening and overnight outages.

03

Charging plan

Decide how solar, available grid power and a compatible generator will recharge storage.

04

Expansion

Allow for future appliances or additional battery modules where the product supports them.

Home battery backup questions

How long will a home backup battery run my appliances?

Runtime depends on usable battery energy and the combined load. A 500W essential load runs much longer than several air conditioners, pumps or heating appliances on the same battery.

Can a solar battery backup work during a blackout?

Yes, when the inverter has a correctly wired backup output and sufficient stored energy. The installer must define which circuits remain powered.

Can I add more battery capacity later?

Many systems support expansion, but model limits, battery age, firmware and approved parallel configurations must be checked before adding modules.
